I know I give Ufa a hard time about its graffiti because, let's be honest, most of it is garbage. Graffiti can either be art or vandalism, and I mostly come across vandalism in this city. A while ago my friend, Nick, told me about graffiti he had seen while living here. I never had a chance to make it to that spot in the winter. I happened to remember his suggestion when my friend and I were trying to come up with a spot to explore.
Katherine and I were both blown away by what we saw. I didn't have high expectations before going, but I really wanted something new to photograph. I was shocked by not only the skill and talent that went into this artwork but also the amount of graffiti that was there! Some of the art looks so good you think it's fake.
I told Katherine, "I need to take back every bad thing I ever said about the graffiti in Ufa." Today, I felt like I hit the lottery. It makes me excited for all the other places hiding around Ufa just waiting to be explored!
What is the most exciting place in your city?

ReplyDeleteThis thread is from a couple of years ago, but have you seen any of these? The comments claim it's all in Ufa- http://pikabu.ru/story/graffiti_v_ufe_1559154
I've seen most of those! I learned that phone companies hired people to do that on the sides of buildings as a way to cover up all the cracks, or something along those lines.
DeleteWow! That makes sense, cool.
