Ulitsa Lenina

Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia
This post really has no point except that I wanted to share some photos of my favorite place in Ufa. Ulitsa Lenina (Lenin Street) is my favorite street. The buildings are so colorful and beautiful, and it's the center of the city which means that it's not busy on the weekends! Actually, during the summer, it's like a ghost town because everyone goes to their dachas on the weekend. I walked to the center last week because I figured it was a good way to get my exercise in. I brought my camera with me because I had to take some pictures for my work and thought it would be a good opportunity to take some additional photos of the city since I don't do much of that and I want to remember everything when I leave.

I had more photos but then I realized I have a really big problem of dust on my camera sensor. It was really obvious in my photos, so I ended up deleting them. I will eventually go back to Lenin Street to take more I just have to wait for Anton to come back so he can go to the camera store with my to get an air blower to clean it. I can probably go by myself but my Russian is still questionable, so I'd rather just make it easier on me and have someone help me to save the sales clerk the hassle of dealing with my Russian. On a side note I had to look up the American word for "shop assistant" because I forgot what it was. I've been living abroad for too long.

Do you live in Ufa? What's your favorite place in the city?

  1. These photos are so beautiful! I love how bright it is even though it's obviously really cold and sunny, I guess the snow reflects the light and makes it brighter? The architecture is so unusual, it looks so unfamiliar but I really like that xx

    1. I love the architecture in Russia. It's half the reason I never want to leave! :) I actually try to make my photos look brighter. It was bright, but I definitely up the exposure in Lightroom! :)

  2. I love these snapshots of life in Ufa! There is something so beautiful about the most mundane of Russian buildings and landscapes. It might just be me, but it's magical there.

    1. I completely agree. A lot of people think I'm crazy when I mention how much I love Soviet style.
